Full Day: Hawara, Lahun and Maydoum Pyramids
Your Desert Cruise Travel representative picks you up from your Cairo hotel at around 7:00 am for a full day among the forgotten pyramids of El Fayoum. We begin with the Hawara Pyramid, about 145 km from Cairo, built by King Amenemhat III of the 12th Dynasty. This pyramid was once attached to the vast Labyrinth, a mortuary complex that ancient writers such as Herodotus ranked among the wonders of the world. Next we drive around 7 km to the El Lahun Pyramid of King Senusret II, also of the 12th Dynasty, an ingenious mud-brick and limestone structure. We then continue about 40 km to the towering Maydoum Pyramid, one of Egypt's earliest attempts at a true pyramid. Once we have finished exploring, we enjoy a relaxing late lunch before heading back to your hotel in Cairo.
