1. Day 1: Arrival in Muscat

   On arrival at Muscat International Airport, your English-speaking driver-guide welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel in a private 4WD. The rest of the day is free to relax and settle in after your journey. Overnight in Muscat.

2. Day 2: Muscat City and Dolphin Cruise

   After breakfast you explore the highlights of the Omani capital, including the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the lively Mutrah Corniche and souq, the Royal Opera House and the Al Alam Palace. In the afternoon you head out on a boat for a dolphin-watching and snorkelling cruise along the coast. Overnight in Muscat.

3. Day 3: Muscat to Nizwa and Jabal Shams

   You leave the coast behind and drive inland to the historic town of Nizwa, where you visit its great round fort and traditional souq. You then climb to Jabal Shams, the highest mountain in Oman and the rim of the country's own Grand Canyon. Overnight at Jabal Shams Resort.

4. Day 4: Jabal Shams Off-Road and Trekking

   A full day in the mountains combines a scenic off-road adventure with a walk along the famous balcony trail, which follows the canyon rim past abandoned villages and dramatic viewpoints high above the gorge. Overnight at Jabal Shams Resort.

5. Day 5: Al Hamra, Misfah and Jabal Akhdar

   You visit the old mud-brick town of Al Hamra and the terraced mountain village of Misfah Al Abriyeen, then continue to the mighty Bahla Fort and the beautifully preserved Jabrin Castle. In the afternoon you ascend the Green Mountain, Jabal Akhdar. Overnight at Sama Jabal Akhdar.

6. Day 6: Jabal Akhdar Green Mountain

   You spend the day trekking among the terraced rose gardens, orchards and old villages of Jabal Akhdar, with sweeping views over the canyons and plenty of time to enjoy the cool mountain air. Overnight at Sama Jabal Akhdar.

7. Day 7: Wadi Bani Khalid and Wahiba Sands

   You descend to the palm-lined pools of Wadi Bani Khalid for a refreshing swim in its turquoise water, then head into the golden dunes of the Wahiba Sands for dune bashing and a spectacular desert sunset. Overnight at a desert eco-camp.

8. Day 8: Wahiba Sands to Ras Al Hadd

   After a desert sunrise you drive to the far eastern coast at Ras Al Hadd, the first point in the Arab world to greet the sunrise. In the evening you take part in an unforgettable turtle-nesting experience on the beach. Overnight at Turtle Beach Resort.

9. Day 9: Coastal Gems and Departure

   On the drive back to Muscat you discover Oman's coastal gems, from quiet fishing villages to dramatic sea views. You are then transferred to Muscat International Airport for your departure, carrying home the memory of Oman's mountains, desert and coast.
